First Responder app to detect radioactivity for Android, Smartphones and Tablets
Aiding Law Enforcement.
GammaPix offers a low-cost alternative for First Responders to a Personal Radioactivity Detector (PRD). The app works with a smartphone or tablet camera to detect potentially harmful gamma radiation. The app can automatically measure and report radioactivity levels to a Command Center to help protect the community from radioactivity accidents (such as occurred in Fukushima, Japan) or a terrorist attack by a Dirty Bomb or a quietly placed Radiation Exposure Device (RED).
Innovative new Technology.
The GammaPix radioactivity detection software employs the sensitivity of digital cameras to ionizing gamma radiation. Software detects the telltale bright signatures created when gamma rays interact with the camera's digitizer chip.

Tested and Approved.
The Innovative GammaPix technology (US patent numbers: 7,391,028; 7,737,410; 8,158,950; 8,324,589; and 8,563,937) has been successfully tested at independent laboratories with calibrated sources. GammaPix apps were developed with funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The GammaPix technology has received the DHS Safety Act Developmental Testing and Engineering Designation.
